This book saved my father's life

My father was diagnosed with what appeared to be a very small amount of cancer. We weighed the evidence, read everything we could in this book and elsewhere on what he should do, and one of the things that struck us was Dr. Walsh's detailed discussion about the nature of prostate cancer. Especially, he had a lot of evidence that cancers that seem to be not that bad are actually worse when the pathologist looks at them, and he also talked about how the biopsy, even multiple biopsies, can still miss the full extent of cancer. This is what happened with my dad. My father had surgery, and his cancer turned out to be Gleason 7. His surgeon, who performed the operation that Dr. Walsh invented, got all the cancer, and every PSA test for the last several years has been undetectable. He had no long-term side effects, and no incontinence even at the beginning. The information on ways to prevent cancer is being practiced by my brother and husband. There is a lot of good information on family history, too, which we have, on both sides of the family. I found this to be a very caring, positive, and helpful book, and I give it to friends who are diagnosed with prostate cancer. Unfortunately, there are a lot of men out there with prostate cancer, and the need for good advice is greater than ever. I would advise people looking at these reviews to use a grain of salt when reading one that seems particularly snarky. Yes, there is repetition in the book, but the authors say up front that this is because they don't expect people to read it cover to cover, but to go to the sections they need the most. I am grateful that we did not need the sections on advanced cancer, but found that to be hopeful, as well.

Essential reading for EVERY man over 40 years old!

I was just diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and this book came highly recommenced. With this type of Cancer, lifestyle and diet over the long term (>10 years) are critical ingredients in both prevention and management.

Even after diagnosis there are a LOT of options and you must be able to discuss them intelligently with your doctor. This book is the first step.

Dr. Walsh presents the essential information in both summary and detailed form. There is a lot of information on the subject, including some really harebrained nonsense, for example I just got an email telling how Prostrate Cancer is really a CIA conspiracy and you should buy this guy's "herbal remedy" which will fix everything. The only real counter to this nonsense is real knowledge based on real facts: here are the facts!

Reading the book has made me much more confident that I will "die from something else", since I am 72 that works out to approx 20 years. It is scary to formally work out your life expectancy as per Dr. Walsh's instructions, however I also found that I have already done 90% of my "do before you die" list and expect to have the time to do most of the rest.

(UPDATE) It is inevitable that ANY published material (book or whatever) is at least 2 years out of date due entirely to the necessary review and editing needed. I had a long talk with my Urologist today and there are many new options available. This book is great for being a "knowledgeable consumer", but is NO substitute of professional advice for your particular situation!

In 1980 the regime abandoned its insistence on unlimited authoritarian rule and approved a constitution that set term limits and promised future democratic institutions; Pinochet lost a constitutionally mandated plebiscite in 1988 and ultimately left office in 1990. Hawkins contends that these changes not only were internally driven but reflected an ongoing response to an international discourse on human rights.

Well-researched and cogently argued, this case study further illuminates and complicates our understanding of modern Chilean history and provides ample testimony of the far-reaching effects of international human rights work.

Men have been notoriously hard to get together in accountability groups. We used 3SG to start what is now a group that has been meeting every week for almost 2 years. The book breaks the ice fairly gently and helps to facilitate the trust that is needed between men before the "stickier" issues are brought up and addressed. God wants us to be in relation with our brothers beyond the Sunday morning - "Hey - How you doing?" - "Oh fine...." Yea right!! We appreciate Robert Noland's approach in this book- We went on to his next book called the Knights Code for our next material. I found it all to be helpful in my growth in relating to other brothers and feeling more a part of the Body of Christ. God Bless.

I had hoped that this book not have been like the knight's code. but it also had way to many missing word and letters. the information was good. but if I want to fill in the missing letters, then I would rather play wheel of fortune.

Best memory keepers!

We have used these for all of our kids. I love them! I track these down because the pockets and limited space are nice. You don't want to save everything. This limits you a bit. Pockets hold quite a bit but now I don't have to feel bad keeping only truly special pieces.

Best memory keeper out there!!

This is the very best memory book! I have searched for a year and FINALLY found this one. There is a lot of space to write and record memories and then it age appropriately goes down to one page for the end of middle school and high school, BUT still has a nice page to record the important things and pockets for each grade as well. I love this and would save yourself a lot of time searching and buy this one! I bought one in pink and the other in red and blue as well.

The original book is quite interesting, but this reprint has no text and very faint images. Not printed properly - DON'T PURCHASE!!! I was able to get a refund, but am very disappointed not to have the book.
